Custom Spiral Staircases
A shelf kit starts from a fixed diameter. We start from your opening — then draw the spiral that fits inside it.
A spiral is the most dimension-sensitive stair we build. The clear diameter, the direction it turns, how many treads complete the rise, and the headroom left for the person walking under the flight above are all locked to each other — change one and the rest move. That is the reason a fixed-diameter kit either fits your opening or does not. We set those relationships on approved shop drawings, build the spiral in our Guangdong workshop, and stand it up on the trial floor with its railing before it is crated.
BEFORE WE DRAW
What a spiral drawing needs from you
These are the inputs that decide whether a spiral works in your space. Send what you have; we will flag what is missing before quoting anything.
Clear diameter available — the widest circle the stair may occupy, measured to the finished walls or edges around it.
Floor-to-floor height, and the size of the opening in the upper floor the spiral rises through.
Rotation direction — clockwise or counter-clockwise as you climb — and which way you want to be facing when you step off at the top.
Where the entry point sits, since the exit point follows from it once the rotation is set.
Headroom concerns: anything above the flight, such as a beam, a sloped ceiling, or a low soffit.
Indoor or outdoor. An exterior spiral is detailed and finished for weather exposure, so tell us the location and how open it is.
Tread material direction — metal, timber, or metal frame with timber treads — and whether a center column is acceptable in the design.
If any of these are still unknown, say so. Confirming them is part of drawing review, not a prerequisite for talking to us.
When a spiral is the right answer
ON THE TRIAL FLOOR
What we check on a spiral before it is crated
The spiral is stacked up in the workshop and read against the approved drawing: whether each tread lands at the angle the drawing sets, whether the rise stays even all the way round, and whether the flight completes its rotation where the exit was drawn.
The railing is fitted on the same stack, because a spiral handrail has to climb and turn at once — the inner side is the tightest part of the run, and it is where a mismatch shows first.
Sections and fixings are then labeled in climbing order, so your local team assembles the spiral in the sequence it was stood up in.
FAQS
Do you sell fixed-diameter spiral kits?
No. Every spiral we ship is drawn to the opening it goes into. If a fixed-diameter kit already fits your space and you want it fast, a retail supplier is the honest answer. If the opening is unusual, or the spiral has to coordinate with railing and finishes, that is the work we do.
Can a spiral be built for outdoor use?
Yes — exterior spirals are a regular request for decks, terraces, and upper-level access. Tell us the location and how exposed the stair is, and the material and finish direction is set on the drawing for that condition.
Do we have to accept a center column?
Tell us if a column is unwelcome in the design. Whether a columnless arrangement is workable depends on the diameter and structure available, and that is exactly what drawing review resolves — we would rather test it on paper than promise it here.
How can we help?
Send a sketch, photo, or architect's plan — we'll review feasibility for your custom staircase or railing and reply with next steps. Every project is made to order at our Guangdong factory and shipped export-ready worldwide.
